The Ural Mountains run 2,500km from the Arctic Ocean to Kazakhstan, forming Europe's traditional eastern border with Asia. The highest peak, Narodnaya (1,895m), is modest in elevation. Ancient and heavily eroded, the Urals are geologically significant but offer limited technical mountaineering interest.
