Kamet (7756m)

4

Kamet位于India,海拔7756米, 属于Himalayas, Asia. 该山峰被归类为Fold Mountain。

Kamet is the second-highest mountain of the Garhwal Himalaya, rising to 7,756 metres near the Tibetan border in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Set back behind a rampart of neighbouring peaks, it has a remote, high-plateau character, and its 1931 first ascent was for a time the highest summit ever reached by climbers. It is a Himalayan fold mountain, and the site rates it grade 4, a technical classification demanding glacier travel and fixed-rope work rather than the extreme commitment of the highest peaks. Its northern position and long approach leave it far quieter than the sacred summits nearer the Gangotri region.
