High Altitude Cerebral Edema — a severe, life-threatening form of altitude sickness caused by swelling of the brain at extreme elevation. Symptoms include loss of coordination (ataxia), altered consciousness, and coma. Immediate descent and dexamethasone are the primary treatments.
