Mount Elgon via Wagagai Peak — March 2023 Summit Report

Mount Elgon hosts the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. The Sasa Trail from the Uganda side winds through bamboo forest, moorland, and across the vast caldera floor to Wagagai Peak. The hot springs on the caldera floor were a highlight. This is one of East Africa's most underrated mountains — far fewer visitors than Kilimanjaro but equally rewarding.
