Margherita Peak (5109m) — Central Circuit Trail (Margherita Peak)
Visão geral do terreno
Ver montanha →The Rwenzori Central Circuit is the classic route to Margherita Peak (5,109m) on the Uganda–DRC border, the third-highest summit in Africa. This 7-day trek climbs through an extraordinary succession of afro-alpine ecosystems — rainforest, bamboo, heather, moorland, and the bizarre giant lobelia and groundsel zone — before ascending the glaciated summit via the Elena Hut at 4,541m. All visitors require a licensed guide and park entry fee; porters are strongly recommended on this notoriously muddy trail.

Overview¶
The Rwenzori Central Circuit is the classic route to Margherita Peak (5,109m) on the Uganda–DRC border, the third-highest summit in Africa. This 7-day trek climbs through an extraordinary succession of afro-alpine ecosystems — rainforest, bamboo, heather, moorland, and the bizarre giant lobelia and groundsel zone — before ascending the glaciated summit via the Elena Hut at 4,541m. Day 1: Nyakalengija to Nyabitaba Hut¶
