Mount Olympus Mytikas Peak — June 2023 Summit Report

Climbing the home of Zeus is as culturally rich as it is physically rewarding. The trail from Litochoro through Enipeas gorge to Refuge A (Spilios Agapitos) winds through beech and pine forest. The summit scramble through Louki couloir to Mytikas requires nerve — the exposure above the Kazania chasm is dramatic. Standing on the throne of the gods with the Aegean shimmering below is a moment that transcends ordinary mountaineering.

Difficulty Assessment

Home of the Greek gods. The final pitch to Mytikas (the true summit) involves an exposed scramble through the Louki couloir. Falls have occurred here — a slip in the couloir has serious consequences. The approach from Prionia is a pleasant forest hike.
