산 보기 →Mount Fuji via Yoshida Trail — July 2024 Summit Report¶
Mount Fuji's Yoshida Trail is a pilgrimage — over 300,000 people climb it annually. The 2024 season introduced access gates and a ¥2,000 fee to manage crowds. We stayed at Station 8 and woke at 3 AM for the summit push, joining a headlamp procession of hundreds. The sunrise (goraiko) from the crater rim was transcendent — a moment shared with strangers that felt deeply communal. The ohachimeguri (crater circuit) revealed the volcanic heart of the mountain.
Trip Overview¶
Mountain: Mount Fuji (3776m) Date: July 20, 2024 Duration: 2 days Party Size: 6 Outcome: Summit
Conditions¶
Weather: New access control system in effect for the 2024 season. Clear skies for sunrise — the iconic 'goraiko' moment. Clouds filled below creating a sea of white. Snow: No snow — peak summer season. Volcanic scoria path throughout. Temperature: 3°C to 22°C Wind: Strong 25-35 km/h near the summit, channeled by the crater walls
Difficulty Assessment¶
Japan's highest peak is a straightforward trail hike with mountain hut accommodation. The 2024 access fee and gate system reduced crowding. The main difficulty is altitude sickness from rapid ascent and the monotonous switchbacks through volcanic gravel.
