Aperçu du terrain
Voir la montagne →Mount Cameroon (4,040m) is the highest peak in West and Central Africa and one of the world's most active volcanoes. The classic 3-day Mann's Spring route departs from Buea (900m) and climbs through cloud forest, montane grassland, and sparse lava fields to the summit plateau. Hut 1 at 2,848m and Hut 3 at 3,750m provide basic shelter for the two nights. A mandatory guide hired through the Buea-based Mount Cameroon Ecotourism Organization carries the park permit and manages camp logistics. The dry season (November to March) offers clearer skies; the mountain receives some of the highest rainfall in Africa during the wet season.

Mount Cameroon 3-Day Mann's Spring Route Expedition¶
Three-day ascent of West Africa's volcanic giant from Buea — cloud forest approach, two mountain huts, and a lava-field summit push to 4,040m.
Overview¶
Mount Cameroon (4,040m) is the highest peak in West and Central Africa and one of the world's most active volcanoes.
Day 1: Buea to Hut 1 (Mann's Spring)¶
Register at the Mount Cameroon Ecotourism Organization office in Buea and begin the ascent through dense montane cloud forest. The trail steepens through grassland above the forest zone. Hut 1 at Mann's Spring provides a freshwater source and basic corrugated-iron shelter. Evening temperatures drop sharply.
Day 2: Hut 1 to Hut 3 via Lava Fields¶
Ascend through the upper grassland and onto the barren black lava fields of the recent volcanic flows. Hut 2 at 3,011m is passed as a rest stop. The landscape becomes increasingly lunar toward Hut 3 at 3,750m, which sits on the edge of the summit plateau with views to the Gulf of Guinea on clear days.
Day 3: Hut 3 to Summit and Full Descent to Buea¶
Pre-dawn start for the final push across the summit plateau to the summit cairn at 4,040m. The descent follows the same route in full, returning through all three hut zones to Buea for the evening. Knees and calves are tested on the long steep descent through cloud forest.
