Grossglockner (3,798m) is the highest peak in Austria and one of the finest alpine objectives in the Eastern Alps. The Stuedlgrat (Stüdl Ridge) is the classic route, a long rock and snow ridge from the Lucknerhaus at 1,918m to the summit via the Stüdlhütte at 2,802m. Day one ascends through pastures and moraine to the hut; day two climbs the mixed ridge with glacier sections and exposed scrambling to the double summit. A guide is highly recommended for crevasse and route-finding on the upper glacier.

Grossglockner (3,798m) is the highest peak in Austria and one of the finest alpine objectives in the Eastern Alps. The Stuedlgrat (Stüdl Ridge) is the classic route, a long rock and snow ridge from the Lucknerhaus at 1,918m to the summit via the Stüdlhütte at 2,802m. Day one ascends through pastures and moraine to the hut; day two climbs the mixed ridge with glacier sections and exposed scrambling to the double summit. A guide is highly recommended for crevasse and route-finding on the upper glacier.
Day 1: Lucknerhaus to Stüdlhütte¶

Day 2: Stüdlhütte to Summit and Return to Lucknerhaus¶
