Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge — March 2024 Summit Report

A rare clear-day March ascent of Cape Town's most iconic landmark. The Platteklip Gorge route is the most direct way up the face, a relentless but rewarding staircase carved into ancient sandstone. We started at 6:30 AM to beat the heat and descended via the cable car. The vast summit plateau was ours for an hour before the first cable car tourists arrived. Standing on top of Africa's most recognisable mountain, with the Atlantic on one side and False Bay on the other, is a genuinely moving experience.
