ดูภูเขา →Mount Vinson via Normal Route — December 2021 Summit Report¶
Mount Vinson is the most remote mountain on the Seven Summits list. The flight from Punta Arenas to Union Glacier, then to Vinson Base Camp, takes you to the end of the world. Climbing in 24-hour daylight with the Sentinel Range stretching white to the horizon is an otherworldly experience. The cold is relentless — we wore every layer every moment. But the summit view across the Antarctic ice sheet is worth every frozen fingertip.
Trip Overview¶
Mountain: Mount Vinson (4892m) Date: December 28, 2021 Duration: 12 days Party Size: 8 Outcome: Summit
Conditions¶
Weather: Antarctic summer with 24-hour daylight. Cold but clear for most of the expedition. One storm day at Camp 2 delayed progress. Snow: Hard wind-packed snow throughout. No crevasse issues on the normal route. Temperature: -35°C to -15°C Wind: Light to moderate 10-25 km/h, one storm day with 50+ km/h
Difficulty Assessment¶
Antarctica's highest peak is technically straightforward but logistically extreme. ALE (Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions) is the sole operator. The extreme cold — even in summer — makes frostbite a constant concern. The isolation is total.
