A painful temporary eye condition caused by UV overexposure reflected from snow and ice surfaces, equivalent to sunburn of the cornea. Symptoms — gritty, burning eyes and light sensitivity — appear hours after exposure. Prevented entirely by glacier sunglasses or goggles with UV protection.
