The Machame Route traverses Kilimanjaro's most dramatic scenery — from rainforest through heath, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit zone. Our 7-day itinerary provided excellent acclimatization. The Barranco Wall at dawn was the highlight — a fun scramble with the clouds parting to reveal the Western Breach glaciers above. The summit glaciers are visibly melting — our guides estimate they will be gone within 15 years. Climb Kilimanjaro now.

The Machame Route ('Whiskey Route') is the most scenic path on Kilimanjaro. No technical climbing but the altitude gain is relentless. The Barranco Wall scramble is the only hands-on section. Summit night is brutal — 8 hours in the dark and cold.
