The Tatra Mountains are the highest range in the Carpathians, straddling the Slovak-Polish border with Gerlachovsky stit (2,655m) as the apex. Though compact at 80km, the Tatras feature genuine alpine terrain with granite peaks, glacial lakes, and dramatic ascents. They attract millions of visitors annually.
