Apennines

The Apennines run 1,200km down the spine of the Italian peninsula, reaching 2,912m at Corno Grande. Predominantly limestone, the range's Gran Sasso massif hosts Italy's southernmost glacier. Though modest in height, the Apennines offer superb hiking and winter ski mountaineering.
