Overview¶
A rewarding 2-day trek to the summit of North Africa's highest peak from the Berber village of Imlil (1,740m). Day one follows the Mizane Valley through walnut groves and the village of Aroumd to the Toubkal Refuge at 3,207m. Day two is the summit push via the South Cirque to Jbel Toubkal's rocky 4,167m summit, followed by a full descent back to Imlil. Best in spring and autumn; crampons required in winter and early spring.
Day 1: Imlil to Toubkal Refuge via Mizane Valley¶
Depart Imlil mule-park trailhead and follow the Mizane Valley through the Berber village of Aroumd and its ancient walnut groves. Climb steadily to the Toubkal Refuge, with panoramic views of the High Atlas range opening up as you gain altitude.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge to Summit and Return to Imlil¶
