Saltoro Kangri (7742m)

5

Saltoro Kangri se alza a 7742 metros en Pakistan, parte de Karakoram, Asia. Este pico se clasifica como Fold Mountain.

Saltoro Kangri is the highest peak of the Saltoro Mountains, a subrange of the Karakoram flanking the Siachen Glacier, and rises to 7,742 metres in a heavily disputed and militarised border region. Its remote setting, first reached in 1962, has made later ascents exceptionally rare, and access has been largely closed for decades. It is a Karakoram fold mountain, formed by the great continental collision that built the range. The site rates it grade 5, its most demanding classification. Political sensitivity, altitude, and isolation combine to keep the mountain among the least-climbed of the Karakoram's major summits.
